Did you know that there are 500,000 cancer patients, 7.5 million diabetics, 10 million prediabetics, 4 million kidney patients, and 400,000 Alzheimer’s patients in Turkey? Did you know that the infertility rate exceeds 30%, that one in ten children has a psychological disorder, one in five adults has a psychological disorder, one in three people has digestive system problems, allergies, or chronic fibromyalgia?
Why have autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis, autism, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, and irritable bowel syndrome, as well as cancers, increased so much? Why can’t we solve this?
Did you know that 80% of patients in intensive care who are fighting for their lives have hypertension and diabetes? My 13 years of intensive care experience have shown me how much we should fear chronic diseases like cancer, hypertension, and diabetes. My five years of motherhood also introduced me to functional medicine at the level of how to protect my child from these conditions.
Can we truly protect ourselves and our children? Are all these diseases fate? What happened that we are no longer “well”? Do we even remember what “well” means? Is it genetics, or are we deceiving ourselves? What is epigenetics? Could there be something that values and works harder for our bodies than we do? Wouldn’t taking medication be enough to save us? Are medications innocent? Our lifespan has increased, but what about the quality of our lives? Are we living, or are we just surviving?
Are we living? Or are we just surviving?
When we look at all these questions in terms of the human body as a whole, at diseases as a chain reaction, and when we get to the root causes and look at the person as a whole—body, mind, and spirit—then it is possible to improve ourselves. Is it easy? Unfortunately, no. It requires patience and effort. Is it expensive? No. It is far less costly than what you spend on medications, doctors, and surgeries. In fact, you can apply most of it yourself.
